My Service Areas

My service areas include Connecticut, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Maryland, Virginia, West Virginia, Washington DC, and other areas by special arrangement. Where an on-site visit is not possible due to distance or other factors, I often work with folk through the mail. They learn where to sample and then send me tapes for examination under the microscope.

My trusty 1997 Toyota Camry moved onto a new assignment with 540,000 miles on it – still running fine! Now I have a “baby” – a 2001 Camry with 204,000 miles on it, a couple of books-on-tape, a trunk full of equipment, and off I toot. Most of my business is doctor-referral, for folk with compromised immune systems. I check out their homes for mold, electromagnetics, gas leaks, vacuum cleaner efficiency, screening for lead paint, etc.

People wouldn’t think of buying a house without a home inspection for structural and system elements. Yet, they buy a house without a second thought about the environmental issues that could be so important to their health. I have often thought that if the public knew what I could do on-site with my microscope and other equipment, they would be lined up at my front door.

Instead, the public is often complacent about their homes, not realizing how much various environmental elements of their homes could be affecting their health and the health of their children. From my vantage point and experience, an in-depth environmental home inspection is a gift you give yourself, for your health.

My inspections are Healthy Home 101, an introduction and a screening assessment that could hold you in good stead for the rest of your life. If you stick with me during the inspection, you’ll learn a great deal both from me and from the equipment we’ll be using. I like to include homeowners and renters in my inspections so that you are empowered to take steps toward a healthier home. Many times, I’ll show clients have to use this or that piece of equipment, even how to take air samples, so that we can work together to cover more ground in less time, saving you money.
